"Pharaoh" draws its essence from the Weighing of the Heart Ceremony in Egyptian mythology, as recorded in the Book of the Dead. In this sacred judgment, Anubis, the guardian of the scales, measures the deceased’s heart against the Feather of Ma'at—the goddess of truth, order, and justice.
If the heart is heavier than the feather, it is devoured by Ammit, the soul-consuming beast (with a crocodile’s head, lion’s upper body, and hippopotamus’s lower body).
If the heart is lighter than the feather, the soul is granted passage into the afterlife (Duat).
This ritual serves as a profound metaphor: A virtuous heart must be as light as a feather. Only by refining one’s spirit, shedding burdens, and embracing truth can one attain immortality.
